~Former Pets of the Week~

Tuxedo came to QHS in 2003 from the City Shelter. He was a very timid and shy guy when he first arrived. He hid in the back of his cage and didn’t want much attention from people. Today, he seems to be a completely different cat. He lives in the free roaming room where he is not kept in a cage. He Gets along well with the other cats. If you  sit down by him, he’ll most likely crawl into your lap for a good cuddle. He’s a very sweet boy and deserves a nice, quiet home.

Ella is a 10 month old Border Collie/Lab mix. There is just something quite captivating, even whimsical, about Ella.   Within moments of meeting her, you will find all the qualities you're looking for in a new best friend.   The look in her eyes alone, tell the story of a trusting, brave heart, searching for a new beginning.   She remains constant in her display of affection, her calm and intuitive nature, and her desire to please you.   Ella will be the ultimate fun companion, devoted to making your life with her worthwhile, and finally finding all the happiness she deserves.

Ivy is a very nice, curious cat. She has tortishell coloring. She gets along with most of the cats in the free roaming room, but she is kept in a cage throughout the day because she likes to run out the door each time it’s open to explore the shelter. She’s about 6 years old and is just looking for someone to go home with.

Prada is a very sweet girl. She’s a beautiful dilute calico cat that is about 5 years old. She gets along with other cats in the free roaming cat room. One of her favorite things to do aside from rub on people as they walk by is curling up on a cat tree and going to sleep. She’s been waiting for several months and is ready to find a forever home.

Harry is a very sweet and loving cat. He used to live in a home with other cats and dogs. One day, he wandered outside and his harness got caught on a car driving by. He was drug by the car several feet before he was able to get away. After he spent time at Katherine Road Animal Hospital healing, his owners were unable to keep him. He has been at the shelter since March of 2007 and is now about 6 years old. Although he has scars where fur will never grow back, he’s always in a great mood and willing to cuddle. He lives in our free roaming room where he is not confined to a cage and plays all day with other cats.. Come visit Harry to see if he’s the one to complete your family.

Ariel is a 3 yr. old Black Lab. She's a Lab lovers delight with her good nature, high energy and fun loving personality. She calms nicely, regularly sits on command, and is learning more everyday. Her desire and ability to chase and retrieve, especially her beloved tennis balls, make her an ideal playmate. Her tendencies toward loyalty and wanting to please, make her an ideal companion. Ariel will be happy in a home where she is the only dog and has you all to herself. So pick up a tennis ball and come visit this very special girl soon. She might just be the perfect match!

Kramer is a 1 yr. old Scottish Terrier mix. He's a very energetic, playful and friendly little guy. He's always moving, always thinking, very smart, and ready for any challenge. There's no doubt he'll be tops in his doggie school class. Though on the go a lot, Kramer also has the potential to be a great lap dog when it's time to unwind. Just give him the chance he needs to play, to relax, to bond, to love someone again, and you will have yourself a wonderful companion for life!

Just look in those soulful eyes, and find a truly elegant, sensitive and spirited creature, looking for a life long companion. She has all the good house manners you're looking for, and sits on command every time you ask. Fetch is her favorite game of the day, and watching her run to her hearts content is a sight to see. Most of all, Eva is a dog who longs to have a full life again, with the chance to love and be loved wholeheartedly!

Aster was found outside of the old QHS facility on South 12th Street. She was trapped, spayed and released. Not too long after she was released, Aster was found in our garage and we took her in. She has become a very friendly cat and lives in our free-roaming cat room where there are several cats outside of cages. She is very social with other cats and is known to have at least a couple of “boyfriends” (although her favorite, Harry, was adopted recently). She would love to go to a home with other cats. While she does enjoy the company of people, she may or may not be a “lap cat” in a home environment. Come see Aster at our new facility and hear her one of a kind “meow”!

Hannah is a 2 yr. old Terrier mix. A shy beauty with a gentle spirit, she is getting more playful and relaxed everyday. Given a chance outside of her kennel, she shows her true personality and is very endearing. She would like a yard to stretch those legs, and prefers not to be tempted by cats. Spike is a 14 month old American Eskimo Dog. He's a real go-getter, who loves to be active and ready for whatever comes his way. So come meet this handsome boy, and find out how rewarding it will be to give him a new start. He's waiting for you right now!

Mr. Wiggles is a nice bunny. He came in with his brother, Mr. Wobbles at the end of last year. We’d really like to see them go to a home together, as it is hard for rabbits to bond, but once they do it can be hard on them if they need to separate. Mr. Wiggles and Mr. Wobbles are both large sized rabbits and need plenty of room to hop around in their enclosure. As you can see, they like going for walks in the yummy grass outside. Come in and visit with these two bunnies today!

Carmen was brought to the shelter several years ago with her litter of kittens. She was placed in a foster home where she was a great mom and able to raise her babies. Once they were old enough, all of the babies were adopted, leaving Carmen behind. She has been at the shelter ever since. She is now approximately 6 or 7 years old. She is a beautiful girl with a dilute tortishell coloring. She gets along with other cats and likes to run all over the cat room checking things out. She sometimes enjoys spending time with people, but also likes her alone time as well.

Casanova is a 2 yr. old Shepherd/Collie mix. Bright eyed and bushy tailed, this guy excels in personality, and not just with the ladies. He's a go getter who likes to play and be active, but knows how to relax too. Yes, Casanova is certainly a charmer. But what is most important to him is to find a new home of his own, where he can be loved, and life can be easy again!
